My New Favorite Book- Review of ‘Lean In’

If you read my other book review you know that I do not have a lot of time to read books that are not required for school. So I take advantage on my morning commute (after dropping off the kids) on the way to work and listen to a book. I look for books to motivate and help me grow. My new favorite is Lean in by Sheryl Sandberg and it should be yours too!

Working on my Masters in Psychology of Leadership I keep seeing roadblocks for women in leadership. This has me focusing my academics on women leadership. It is often the pressure of multiple roles and other demands that can make it challenging for women leaders to move up such as: motherhood. Sheryl takes her life and breaks it down and really gives you a boost of ‘you are not alone!’ Too often we let men take the lead at work while we take the lead at home and this needs to balance out. It is a win for everyone involved. Having more women in leadership roles can bring more diverse ideas and solutions and having more men helping at home can give more family time. It’s about balancing it all out.

It had me from the beginning and I enjoy the book so much I putting back in the rotation. Her life stories my not be directly related  (like Harvard, lol) but you can really see the points she is trying to get across. It can be hard no matter your situation.  This also encouraged me to reach out and contact a local Lean In group. We need women supporting women, men supporting women and women supporting men in all our roles of life.

I really hope you enjoy this read and please leave me comment on what you thought about the read. I would love to hear your take on it.

Enjoy your read!
