When I was little I remember my mom renting a typewriter for a community college paper. Computers weren’t a thing yet. It was big, heavy and clunky. But the sound of each letter pressing and making a quick snap noise grabbed my attention. As soon as she was done she would let me at it. I would spend all night typing away poems, words, musings, begging to stay up just a little longer. I knew in the morning it would be gone, back to the rental place, no longer mine to explore.\u00a0 At\u00a06 I found a love of typewriters that would stick with me. After all these years (many, many years) I finally satisfied my passion with my first purchase of a vintage typewriter. Thank goodness for sites like Etsy where you find other people fulfilling their passion that is aligned with yours. I purchased a 1960’s Olympia Splendid 33 from a store on Etsy. If you have a typewriter passion as well I highly recommend this shop for vintage typewriters as they do a fantastic job restoring the old glory of these beauties! https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/ElGranero?ref=profile_shopname<\/a><\/p>\n

I finally have my own typewriter and I’m excited to start snapping those keys. I will say it will take a bit of getting used to the effort in pressing each key after working on a keyboard and iPad everyday. I will find time to tackle this even with family, work and school. I will also let my kids play on it and enjoy the simple pleasures of expressing without being\u00a0plugged in. Happy typing!<\/p>\n
